Student Essay

Each year in recognition of Law Day (May 1), the Utah State Courts invites high school students
to submit an essay to participate in the Judge for a Day program. Students are paired with a
judge to get a behind-the-scenes look at the Judicial Branch and to lean about the role a judge
plays in the courts. The theme for Law Day 2020 is
"Your Vote Your Voice Our Democracy: The 19th Amendment at 100". The following are excerpts from essays that students who participated in this year’s Judge for a Day program submitted.
